wts.umn.edu - Windows 10/11 Saved Credentials Issue

 

In October of 2022 users of wts.umn.edu started experiencing issues connecting.  An example of the error received is below.

This issue appears to be limited to users of Windows 10 and 11 and who have their username and password saved.

The current workaround is to delete the saved credentials and continue to connect without saving them.  To remove your saved credentials please follow the below instructions.

1. Launch Remote Desktop Connection as normal

2. When presented with the below box, click delete and when asked “Are you sure you want to delete the saved credentials?” click Yes.  Be sure your username starts with AD\ (e.g. AD\goldy001).  If not, click Show Options and change it to match that format.

3. Then, click connect.  When prompted with the below box to enter your credentials enter your password and click OK.  Do NOT check the “Remember me” box.
