Windows Remote Desktop Services (formerly known as Windows Terminal Services or Windows Terminal Server) is used to allow remote access to many specialized (and some common) applications. For a list of available software, see our list of Research Software.
In addition, it has standard web browsers and Microsoft Office and can be used for remote access to files stored on files.umn.edu, Google Drive, or other file servers.
You can access CLA's Window Remote Desktop Service by using the instructions at z.umn.edu/wtsconnect.
wts.umn.edu is a server farm consisting of 9 powerful Windows servers to spread the work. When you connect to wts.umn.edu your connection will be sent to a server with available resources. In a typical semester around 700 individuals use these servers.
CLA faculty, staff and graduate students automatically have access to wts.umn.edu. We also provide this service for a few other colleges. Please see the instructions linked in the sidebar for more information.
Need access for a class? We have a page on what information to send us.
